77-year-old Pedestrian Dead in Stanton Hit-and-Run
On Thursday, August 11, 26-year-old Compton resident George Wahba hit a 77-year-old man while driving a black Subaru sedan. Wahba shortly fled the scene without stopping to help the victim.
According to Garden Grove police Sgt. Royce Wimmer, the incident took place near the 9500 block of Lampson Avenue at around 12:05 p.m.
After some time, the senior was found with “life-threatening” injuries by officers. First responders promptly rushed him to a hospital where he was unfortunately pronounced dead. The police were unable to identify the victim.
Wahba was later located in Stanton where he was arrested and charged with a hit-and-run felony. According to inmate records, he is being held in jail with a $50,000 bail.
