Tiger Woods Injured After Car Crash

관리자 0

Tiger Woods went through emergency orthopedic surgery, Tuesday after a car rollover accident in Southern California. On February 23rd, 2021, Tiger Woods crashed in Rancho Palos Verdes, near Los Angeles. At 7:am, the 45-year-old slid off the road due to high speeds, which resulted in a dangerous crash. The 15-time Major Champion sustained injuries to his leg that required pins and rods which saved his leg from amputation.

Los Angeles County Sheriff, Alex Villanueva, states that this part of the street “is a downhill curve” and is known as a trouble spot for speeding and accidents. Later that day, the Golf Star tweeted he was “awake, responsive, and recovering in the hospital room.” Woods stated he had no recollection of the incident. The Los Angeles County Sheriff will not consider any charges for Tiger Woods. As Villanueva states, “This is an accident. Not a crime.” As for Woods possibly being impaired at the time of the crash, Villanueva said there was no evidence to support that.

Deputy Carlos Gonzales, who responded to the scene, saw Woods flipped over in his Genesis GV80. Deputy Gonzalaz stated, "I do think the fact that he was wearing a seatbelt and that the vehicle safety features worked as designed by the manufacturer likely resulted in either reducing his injury or saving his life.” The car Woods drove featured an all-new safety platform which included a strong focus on "passenger compartment protection/reinforcement areas and the use of advanced high strength steel for rigidity and safety," according to Genisis Motor Company. The vehicle was equipped with 10 standard airbags, including a "center-side airbag unique to Genesis that deploys between the front seats," according to Genesis chief, Dana White.

Genesis brands received top marks on the IIHS safety awards since the GV80 went on sale last fall, but its safety measures will be tested for the 2021Top Safety Pick announcement in the coming month. As it has only been a month since Wood’s last back microdiscectomy surgery, this recent crash threatens to set back his career in professional golf.
